In Their Own Story

The wind howls through the jagged peaks of Skull Island, carrying the scent of rain and rotting vegetation. High above the mist-shrouded canopy, Kong pauses on the flat expanse of stone known as his Throne. His massive chest heaves as he lets out a roar that echoes off the distant cliffs, shaking loose dust from the ancient rock beneath his feet. Below, the jungle trembles in response, and the shadows retreat into the deep crevices, knowing their King is awake and watching.

Reader's Guide

The Throne sits atop a steep, isolated mesa surrounded by dense, impenetrable rainforest. Access to this location is nearly impossible for smaller creatures due to the sheer vertical cliffs that guard its perimeter, making it a natural fortress. The surface of the plateau is uneven, covered in patches of moss and ancient lichen that have grown over centuries of exposure to the elements. Visitors must beware of the unstable footing near the edges, where loose shale can shift under heavy weight. The area is often shrouded in low-hanging fog, reducing visibility and masking the approach of aerial predators or other threats from the sky. Historically, this site marks the boundary between the wild chaos of the jungle and the ordered rule of the King.
